Sindoh 3DWOX DP201 3D Printer Review

Sindoh 3DWOX DP201 3D Printer

Sindoh 3DWOX DP201 3D Printer Overview

We recently reviewed the Sindoh 3DWOX DP200 3D printer in anticipation of the release of this newer Sindoh DP201 model. With the DP200, Sindoh focused on providing consistent and reliable temperatures, keeping user safety in mind.

For the most part, the new 3DWOX DP201 provides many of the same conveniences, while making a number of small changes along the way to offer a lower-budget option. However, the most important change Sindoh has made is in the print bed. The DP201 3D printer trades off the heated platform design of the DP200 in exchange for what Sindoh calls “The Most Reliable Flexible Bed Ever.” Instead of the heated aluminum print bed, the DP201 comes with a flexible silicon surface that attaches via magnets.

The change from heated build platform to a silicon surface does come with one caveat. The Sindoh 3DWOX DP201 is compatible with PLA filament only, ditching support for ABS. That said, the convenience of the DP201 will make it the preferred option for many enthusiasts.

3DWOX Flexible SIlicon Print SurfaceWhile giving up support for ABS may be a compromise in certain situations, this is a smart move for Sindoh, offering a machine that’s even better suited for schools and hobbyists. Sindoh makes a point to even advertise this unit as kid-friendly when used with Print It and other SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids. If you do not need the ability to print with ABS, then the 3DWOX DP201 is definitely the option for you.

While the biggest change between Sindoh’s 3DWOX DP200 and the newer DP201 can be seen in the flexible bed design, there remain a number of minor tweaks.
